ORIGINAL: stellar1987 hey there, my name is saskia, i'm 22 years old and live in the oldest city of germany - trier (which is as boring as it sounds), where i study german & english literature & linguistics (which is not as boring as it sounds*). the only positive aspect about this is that the nürburgring - and therefore rock am ring - isn't that far away. however, as the german line-up's this year aren't really my cup of tea, i'm planning to make my reading- and 'driving-on-the-left-side-of-the-road'-debut this year. what else? yeah, some of the music i like to listen to: tiger lou, the kills, incubus, justice, florence and the machine, loney dear, coconut records, bon iver, interpol, why?, them crooked vultures, foo fighters, radiohead, pixies, louis XIV, eagles of death metal, metric, tv on the radio, tegan and sara, bloc party, the streets - so it could be called 'indie' i guess. also i like older stuff like the who, the doors, the beatles, the rolling stones... you get the idea. so. that's basically it, i guess. *i probably should nt tell that i study english, because that may raise your expectations of my english skills, which are not perfect... obviously. hey saskia! your music taste seems pretty cool! all the bands ive heard of on that list i like :) your english seems is good! better than my german! i had to learn german is school, i didnt like it lol anyhoo welcome!

guten tag saskia! i learned german in school for a year and went to frankfurt (kind of an accident seeing as i booked the flights originally for rock am ring) last year but i still know very little german. like you said quite a lot of people there know at least some english. Anyway I share some of your music tastes, the rock bands: EODM, incubus, etc. I think your english is generally good I hope you find your english venture goes well when you do come.

btw, about me: i'm not new here, i joined two years ago but anyhow i'm steve from tilehurst which is in the very festival town of reading. i like just simple and daft stuff really: watching daft films and shows, going to bars, trying new food, learning/playing guitar, walking, going abroad, internet, gigs/ reading festivals (i would like to go to sonispere, DL or another festival). I've been to reading festival every year since 2004 but haven't attended all weekend every of those years. My music tastes are mainly thrash metal and rock, as kinda said above: white stripes, less than jake, blink 182, the subways, municipal waste, slayer, etc. I can enjoy a little bit of almost all other types though.

Was that the first time you've seen MW?

Ah cool, and lucky u for meeting them and them signing your shirt Someone I spoke to said he bumped into Tony at the bar. I saw for about 2 mins at Reading last year lol. I didn't know much of their stuff then plus me and my mate wanted to get a got spot for the secret band in the NME stage, ie them crooked vultures. So anyway thurs was my first proper MW seeing, and it was way better. I take you saw them at download and reading or something? I thought Victim were good, especially that they got the crowd going. I really liked Gentlemen's Pistols despite the mellow atmosphere. Though that's probably becuase many people hadn't heard of them and/or their music. MW really owned the night though! They worked the crowd well which is what I really like in a band.

Going to see PBC as well. Really love Chasing Hamburg as much as the first album, and I've heard title fight is good. Music-wise, I really do like a lot of genre's (people round these parts will vouch for that). But my main 2 directions I guess are hardcore and metal, and I expand from them. I mean hardcore wise give me Comeback Kid, Madball, Cancer Bats, No Trigger, Outcry Collective and most importantly A WILHELM SCREAM. Metal wise, I like the popular like Megadeth, Slayer, the even more mainstream with BFMV and Trivium, and then the obscure and technical metal like Protest The Hero, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Conducting From The Grave. Then I have all the middle ground like post-hardcore, pop-rock/punk and indie. I guess you must like hardcore mainly just from mention of Polar Bear Club and Set Your Goals (I do class them as hardcore still)
