Bring your own booze into arenas 30 May 2012 09:27 (permalink)
Never been to Reading before, whats the deal with taking your own booze into the arena area?  in Glasto you can take your own booze everywhere but in V they were strict.

Please help....?

Glastonbury is different as there isn't a single arena. At Reading you are not allowed to take your own Alcohol into the arena.

Buy eco friendly bags of rum, tape to gooch.
Even if security feel it they'll assume it's part of you, honestly, it works without fail.

And by the end you have a nice smooth gooch, so it's a win win situation.

It helps if you're a girl too or if you have friends who are girls. I used to put a beer can each in my back pockets and cover them with my rain jacket. They were easily visible but because there were no females doing a search at the entrance, we were able to slip past with about four to six cans on us.

If the cans are visible they wouldnt have to search you, they could just tell you to remove them. They obviously just dont see the cans, I have got away with it numerous times to sneak a few cans in.

They always have female securitt at the entrances though.

I think when there's a can in your raincoat sleeve, they know it's not a natural bulge your arm. they do have female security but more often than not, whenever we went in they were always men.

ive been 4 years running now, always had to sneak my cans in :) last year i brought a 2 litre camelback, i snuck it in aswell, although i was just wondering (as its only just occured to me in the 5th year :P ) is it just cans/bottles ect you cant take in, to try minimise people throwing stuff? meaning would my camelback be aloud as im obviosly not going to launch it at some poor persons head...

                      No, any drinks.
So you have to pay £4 for a pint of **** beer inside, or £2 for a bottle of coke.

                      Thats why they do it.

This is the first year that I'm even contemplating this. The security checks are just so erratic, occasionally you get someone who wants to feel you absolutely all over, then others you'll just get a slap on the arms and be put on your way. Is there a general consensus that "between the legs" (with baggy trousers) is a bad idea? Also, what would happen if they did catch you? Apart from the embarrassment of having to remove said alcohol of course...

                              You just get it confiscated.
To be honest anything solid you're going to be walking funny, they look out for stuff like that, and things like baggy shorts swinging about where theres a lot of weight in the side pockets. They aren't daft.

You can bring a camping chair in and fit quite a few cans inside the bag, never known anyone to get searched like that.

hahaa love that. Feel a lot more relaxed about it after this. Although, each person is different, some of them will take those matters differently. Just hope to get lucky, eh?

I took one of those vodka pouches in and it was easy enough. You can easily get a few cans in around your clothes too. It's not that strict. Especially if you're going in around midday, it's too busy for them to care.

Hip flask of rum in either a pocket on my combats or in the boob pocket of my jacket. Titty booze, only located if i'm subjected to a full on search.
